Plan a building flight.

Narrated tutorial with background music and English captions · Published · Watch on YouTube ↗

Follow a building scan in the real Crown planner: place a scan point, choose dimensions, generate a route and review where each camera looks. The video includes a speed-only bulk edit that preserves the scan’s varied heights and gimbal angles.

The workflow in writing

  1. Locate the site. Search for the building and check its position against the current site.
  2. Choose the aircraft and 3D Scan. Click the building to place the scan point. A camera profile helps estimate spacing; it does not guarantee export compatibility.
  3. Enter radius, height and detail. Radius is measured from the centre, not across the full building width.
  4. Generate the flight path. Review the roof and facade route, connecting segments, point count and estimated time.
  5. Inspect camera aim. Select waypoints and use the previous and next controls. Check downward roof views and inward facade views.
  6. Apply only the intended bulk changes. In the video, Speed is set to 5 m/s and Altitude and Gimbal are left blank to preserve their values.
  7. Review site observations. Mark observed hazards, then run “Review route risks”. A warning-free map does not verify clearance.
  8. Name and prepare the file. Enter a KMZ download name and use “Check & prepare KMZ” on an export-enabled profile. Review the mission in DJI Fly before use.

The recording also introduces 2D Survey, Orbit and Manual modes. Read the orbit guide and waypoint checklist for more detail.

Check aircraft support before export.

Mavic 4 Pro KMZ preparation is structurally checked. Mavic 3 series, Mini 4 Pro, Mini 5 Pro, Air 3 and Air 3S remain planning previews with export disabled. A file check is not controller-import or real-flight verification. View aircraft support →
